The basis of the Climate Justice campaign is that if we really want to make a difference to our planet we have to change the way we live as  individuals and as a society.

For the past few years, SPANNED, has been working in conjunction with  CAFOD’s LiveSimply projects and will continue to do so in the future.

At Christmas we take part in a project called AlterNativity€�, which aims to change completely the way we think about the feast and what sort of presents we buy for those we love. The alternative€ way to celebrate the nativity€� is to buy a present for a family member and friend, but  give it to someone who really needs it - like a meal or some bedding for homeless people, medication for people all over Africa, sight saving  operations, sandals for lepers in Bangladesh, a special pack for newly-born babies in Leicester, a litre of fuel for the local air ambulance, items to grow food and keep floods away in Asia and many more.

The AlterNativity event in Hinckley takes place each year on a Saturday early in November, and there is a mail order facility that operates from then until early December.
